Anirban Kundu Fellow

Dr. Anirban Kundu currently serves as the first ever fellow for the XPRIZE Canada Hub under the Food, Water, Waste domain.

Dr. Anirban Kundu is a geomicrobiologist and XPRIZE Canada Hub innovation fellow at the University of Calgary. His work focuses on characterizing how anaerobic microbes consume hydrogen and the implications for subsurface natural hydrogen storage, emissions, and infrastructure damage. Anirban is also an Adjunct professor in carbon storage at Carleton University. 

Anirban has over 3 years of post-PhD experience on climate mitigation, energy policy, sustainability strategy, and social impact as consultant and program manager, and he has received >$1 million in research awards and scholarships across Canada and India. Anirban has advised on curriculum, pedagogy, and experiential learning at Wavemakers Canada and Seneca Polytechnic Toronto. He has mentored >30 students through research and experiential learning at the undergraduate and master's levels. His research interests include environmental microbiology, nanomaterials-sustainable agriculture-water nexus, and climate action.
